Supporting New Moms Through Baby Bundles & Community Baby Showers
Welcoming a new baby is an exciting milestone—but it can also bring added stress, especially for families facing financial challenges. Since 2018, United Way of Greater New Bedford’s Women United has been easing that burden by providing essential baby items to moms in need through our Baby Bundles initiative.
Do you have an idea to make your community or neighborhood a better place? United Way of Greater New Bedford will be accepting applications for its biannual Changemaker Grants, offering up to $2,500 to all-volunteer groups in the region working to drive community-led change beginning July 14th.
For 30 years, United Way has empowered local residents to bring small-scale, high-impact projects to life—projects that build stronger, healthier communities. Changemaker Grants support initiatives that are engaging, solutions-focused, and rooted in community action.
What is Financial Wellness for Women?
Financial Wellness for Women was developed in partnership with local bankers and financial planners with input from financial literacy program graduates and coaches. This 10-week, in-person, financial education program focuses on building healthy financial habits through goal-setting, budgeting, credit management, and long-term financial planning.
Be a Financial Wellness Coach
Financial Wellness volunteer coaches play a vital role in the success of the program; mentors help women apply the money management skills they are learning to their personal financial situation and goals.

On Saturday, April 12th volunteers will gather to package 1,000 Kid-friendly meal packs for kids to have over spring vacation week. Meal packs will be distributed through by United Way's Hunger Commission to school districts throughout Greater New Bedford.
Each meal pack will include: Cereal, fruit & applesauce cups, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, mac & cheese, and other kid-friendly snacks like dried fruit, pretzels, and trail mix. Please no glass or family/value size containers.
United Way of Greater New Bedford is the local leader in promoting volunteerism. We know that often people have the desire to make a difference, but don’t know where to begin. Between family, work and/or school, and the million other demands in our lives, most people don’t think they have the time to commit to volunteerism. The fact is whether you can give a few hours a week, a month or even a year, you can make a difference.
