Staff Spotlight: Eydie Matteos
Eydie joined United Way of Greater New Bedford in 2025 as a Financial Wellness Facilitator, where she empowers individuals and families to build stronger financial futures. Through programs like Financial Wellness for Work and Financial Wellness for Women, Eydie helps participants develop practical money-management skills, increase confidence, and take meaningful steps toward long-term stability.
Outside of UWGNB, Eydie is deeply rooted in the Greater New Bedford community. She serves as a Board Member and Chair of Events for the Cape Verdean Association of New Bedford, supporting cultural programming and organizational leadership. She is also a dedicated volunteer with Dia das Crianças (Children’s Day), helping coordinate logistics, fundraising, and programming for the beloved bi-annual celebration.
Her commitment to service has earned her recognition, including the 2026 Black Excellence on the Hill Award. A proud speaker of Cape Verdean Creole and Portuguese, Eydie brings cultural connection and authenticity to her work every day.
What Eydie values most about her role is the opportunity to meet people where they are and support their growth. She is energized by being part of a team that shares her deep commitment to uplifting the community by helping individuals build skills, confidence, and brighter futures.
