Help United Fund
The freeze of SNAP benefits has put thousands of local families at risk of going hungry. United Way of Greater New Bedford is deploying funds through our Help United Fund to provide critical food resources to those who need them most-right now! Every dollar donated goes directly to food purchases, helping our partner pantries restock their shelves and serve neighbors in urgent need.

SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is the nation’s largest food security program, supporting 42 million Americans- including children, veterans, working families, seniors, and people with disabilities. Yet the average daily SNAP benefit is only $6.16 per person, barely enough for a single day’s nutrition. Beyond the immediate human impact, SNAP also fuels our local economy—contributing roughly $220 million each month in Massachusetts alone. Your donation amplifies this impact, ensuring families have enough to eat and local businesses continue to thrive.
