Troy Lester is Vice President Patents and Assistant Secretary for Acushnet Company, a golf industry leader and manufacturer of Titleist and FootJoy branded products. He has been responsible for the company’s patent portfolio for over 20 years and oversees the patent strategy, patent prosecution efforts, advice to the Research and Development departments, negotiations of licenses and patent litigation. Acushnet Company is awarded over 100 patents a year to golf equipment technology and believes very strongly in the patent system’s fundamental role in the American economy. The Research and Development departments continuously require opinions and advice regarding competitors’ patents and product development direction.
Mr. Lester is an active participant in US Made, an organization dedicated to protecting US manufacturers from abusive patent litigation so that we can foster jobs and invest in our communities. He also participates in the Patent Policy Working Group of the Global Innovation Policy Center at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to help direct patent policies that will drive innovation.
Mr. Lester is an active volunteer at St. Mary’s Dartmouth. He is a Eucharistic Minister and serves on the Finance Council. He also participated in the organization of the St. Mary’s Men’s Fellowship, a group dedicated to strengthening their faith and serving others.
Mr. Lester served on the Town of Dartmouth Finance Task Force during the override budget analysis in 2007.
Mr. Lester received his JD and his BS Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. In between his degrees, Mr. Lester worked for Allied Signal as an Engineer designing gas turbine engine components.
Mr. Lester is passionate about the game of golf, and in particular, the integrity, sportsmanship and respectfulness that are tightly woven into the fabric of the game.
