United Way of Greater New Bedford has awarded 22 Community Impact Grants to non-profit organizations in the region – investing $380,000 in high-quality, local programming in the areas of healthy community, youth opportunity, financial security, and community resiliency.
Funded programs focus on addressing issues such as maintaining or improving health and well-being, helping young people realize their full potential, creating a stronger financial future for every generation, and addressing urgent needs today for a better tomorrow.
“By investing in impactful programs and services, we’re strengthening our community for all who call it home,” said Michelle N. Hantman, President & CEO. “Today, more residents are facing new challenges and relying on local programs than ever before.”
Community Impact Grant applications are carefully evaluated by a Grants Review Committee made up of dedicated volunteers, who recommend investment decisions on behalf of United Way. These grants are made possible through United Way’s annual campaign, supported by the generosity of hundreds of donors and community partners.
This year, the Review Committee awarded grants to many deserving organizations such as:
Coastline Elderly Services assists seniors with their Money Management Program to help ensure bills are paid on time and that seniors are managing their money wisely.
Immigrants’ Assistance Center provides case managers to assist immigrant and non-English speakers in our community with a multitude of services.
South Coast LGBTQ+ Network assists individuals in their personal journeys through the Elevate LGBTQ+ Youth Program to promote overall wellness.
School on Wheels provides after-school education support to students impacted by homelessness and poverty. They focus on social-emotional skills and resources to reach their full school potential.
These programs support are just a few examples of how UWGNB supports Greater New Bedford’s most vulnerable populations while creating lasting change in our community. For the full list of Community Impact Grant recipients, visit unitedwayofgnb.org/community-impact-grants.
