For 20 years, Michelle has served as President & CEO of United Way of Greater New Bedford, helping guide the organization through an ever-changing nonprofit landscape while remaining deeply connected to the people and places that make up our community.

But Michelle’s United Way story began long before she stepped into the President & CEO role.

As a teenager, Michelle was already volunteering with United Way, developing a connection to the organization at an early age. That experience would eventually lead to a career at United Way, where she first served in both the Marketing and Development roles. Those roles gave her a unique perspective on the organization - from communicating its story and engaging the community to building relationships with donors and supporters.

Michelle eventually left United Way to work at a local nonprofit school, but her time away didn’t last forever. In 2006, she returned to United Way as President & CEO, beginning what would become two decades of leadership.

Since then, Michelle has led United Way through changing times, new challenges, and countless milestones. She has helped the organization evolve while staying true to the relationships and values that have always been at its core.

Over the years, Michelle has also become a familiar face throughout the SouthCoast nonprofit community. Whether working with donors, volunteers, nonprofit partners, businesses, or community leaders, she has built lasting relationships that have helped move United Way forward.

What makes Michelle’s story especially meaningful is how far back that connection goes. From a teenage volunteer, to roles in Marketing and Development, to leading the organization as President & CEO, her journey with United Way has truly come full circle.

As we celebrate Michelle’s 20th anniversary as President & CEO, we’re celebrating more than a milestone. We’re celebrating two decades of leadership, dedication, relationships, and a deep belief in the work United Way does every day.

Congratulations, Michelle, on 20 incredible years! We’re grateful for everything you have brought to United Way of Greater New Bedford and look forward to seeing what the next chapter brings.
