
Christopher Fortier is the Chief Clinical Officer at Coral, a healthcare incubator and solutions company committed to tackling the fragmentation within the U.S. healthcare system. At Coral, he leads clinical strategy and innovation, collaborating with stakeholders to develop scalable tools that enhance pharmaceutical cost savings, increase supply chain transparency, and improve patient outcomes.
Before joining Coral, Dr. Fortier served as President of the 503B Outsourcing at Nephron Pharmaceuticals, an industry-leading company producing 503B and generic sterile medications to address national drug shortages. Prior to that, he was the Chief Pharmacy Officer at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for a decade. In this role, he managed all aspects of the hospital's pharmacy enterprise, including inpatient and ambulatory services, and chaired the Mass General Brigham Chief Pharmacy Officer’s Council. Earlier in his career, he was Associate Director of Pharmacy at MUSC Health in Charleston, South Carolina.
Dr. Fortier earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut and completed a PGY-1/PGY-2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina Medical Center. He has delivered over 100 national and international presentations and has held appointments at institutions such as Harvard Medical School, the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, the University of Connecticut, the University of South Carolina, and Northeastern University. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and is certified as a Pharmacy Executive Leader by ASHP.
Dr. Fortier has served in leadership roles for numerous state and national professional organizations and has been published in multiple healthcare journals. His expertise has been featured in various media outlets, including NBC Nightly News, the Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, Bloomberg, and the Washington Post.
He is actively involved in local community service specifically focus on food insecurity. Additionally, Dr. Fortier served as Chair of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy Board of Directors from 2021 to 2023 and is currently the Chair of the United Way of Greater New Bedford Board of Directors.
