United Way of Greater New Bedford is encouraging community members to “Join the Fight” for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in Greater New Bedford by giving to the annual campaign. Leading the charge as Campaign Chairman is Joseph J. Nauman, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, and Secretary for Acushnet Holdings Corp.
“I am honored and delighted to serve as this year’s Campaign Chair,” comments Nauman (left). “I have believed in the mission and have strongly supported this United Way since moving to the area over 20 years ago. I am confident in this organization’s ability to deploy all contributions in a targeted and effective manner, ensuring maximum impact in our community. This campaign is an opportunity for me to increase my support and to encourage the business community and the community at large to do the same. We all know that the need in our community continues to grow. Please join me in making this the strongest campaign yet, as we try to meet that need.”
Volunteering with Mr. Nauman on the Campaign Cabinet is Ann Auger, BayCoast Bank; Scott Dubois, Pidalia; Don Hartley, Edward Jones; Chris Hodgson, Coastal Financial; Vernon Miles, RMS Mortgage; Ari Sky, City of New Bedford; and Carl Taber, BayCoast Bank. Cabinet members will each be focusing on various elements of the campaign.
In addition to the efforts of the Campaign Cabinet, nine local companies are “loaning” United Way an employee to help during the busy campaign season. Loaned Executives volunteer in United Way’s office from September to December to assist with phone calls, deliver campaign materials, assist with presentations, expand the outreach of the campaign, and provide general office help at United Way. Loaned Executives get an in depth understanding about the United Way network and the programs and services it supports.
This year’s Loaned Executive team includes: Adam DeFrias, BankFive; Nina DeSousa, First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union; Betty Durkin, Lockheed Martin; Jennifer Hassey, Bank of America; Michael Letendre, BayCoast Bank; Stacie Long, Bristol County Savings Bank; Edmund Moniz, St. Anne’s Credit Union; Chris Pinto, Sylvia Group and Wendy Mendoza-Rivera from New Bedford Housing Authority.
“We have a strong team this year with several returning loaned executives,” said Maureen Sylvia, VP of Resource Development. “They all bring a unique set of skills and community knowledge to our efforts. Loaned Executives help manage over 130 workplace campaigns and become ambassadors for United Way.”
