Live United Celebration Honors Community Members

United Way of Greater New Bedford recently hosted the Live United Celebration to honor community members, organizations and businesses that have joined the fight for health, education, and financial stability in Greater New Bedford.

“The Live United Celebration allows us to publically thank those that have gone above and beyond for our United Way throughout the year,” said Michelle N. Hantman, President & CEO. “Their support allows our work to be possible.”

Acushnet Company received recognition of their continued support of United Way with the Major Firms Platter, the Navigator Award, and the Rockefeller Award. BayCoast Bank, the City of New Bedford, and Eversource also received the Rockefeller Award for their contributions.

BankFive was honored with the Community Champion Award for their commitment to United Way and other organizations across the SouthCoast. “BankFive has been an asset to the region for decades,” said Hantman. “They have made a commitment to improving lives of residents through their charitable giving and they deserve to be recognized for everything they have done.” BankFive also received the Corporate Excellence Award along with Bristol County Saving Bank, High Point, Southcoast Health, Stop & Shop, St. Anne’s Credit Union, and UPS.

Field Engineering was presented with the LIVE UNITED 365 Award for their loyal commitment to the United Way’s small business campaign. United Way also honored Aaron Pools & Spas with the Holiday Spirit Award for their support of the Holiday Wishes program. Care Free Homes was awarded with the Live United Award and Reynolds DeWalt was awarded the In-Kind Supporter of the Year Award.

As a committed partner, New Bedford Housing Authority was honored with the Initiative Partner of the Year Award. They have been an integral partner with United Way’s Family Resource Center as families have arrived from Puerto Rico after fleeing from Hurricane Maria.

In addition to the company awards, longtime United Way volunteers Kelly and Jillian Zucco, of Mattapoisett, were awarded the Spirit of Volunteerism Award.

Others recognized at the event included Loaned Executives and the Campaign Cabinet. Their service during the year assists in extending the reach of United Way. The Campaign Celebration was sponsored by BankFive, BayCoast Bank and Bristol County Savings Bank.
