Summer Fund
For more than a decade, United Way’s Summer Fund has provided local children who face financial obstacles or physical disabilities with the opportunity to attend summer camps and enrichment programs. In 2008, with the help of Chairman Senator Mark Montigny, the program raised $26,620.
A total of 13 camps and summer programs received funding this year. Decisions were made based on applications, final reports and 2007 site visits.
Thanks to generous support from the Island Foundation and the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts - Acushnet Foundation Fund, as well as gifts from area businesses and private donors, Summer Fund continues to provide these children with a positive, structured experience during the summer months.
